It starts at the very northern end of the park off the main gravel road and heads back to the southwest through undulations and around trees. It eventually doubles back to head north and climbing up via switchbacks you come out almost opposite the entrance to Kahore Tau.The trail was mainly digger built by TrailPro during early winter 2017. Their work in the park during this period was funded by grants from the TSB Community Trust and the New Zealand Community Trust.
