Start at the paragliding launch site at the antenna and follow the steep firebreak down to the west. The first half is not the best and is slippery when wet and there is also gorse. Last year a significant amount of the gorse on the firebreak had been cleared, but you will still feel some on your legs and hands. Halfway down it becomes a technical, steep, narrow single track. Handlebars will just fit in between the trees. The track meets up with Morepork (https://www.trailforks.com/trails/morepork/) just after the flat section on this track.

Lower Super Plus

Easy G4 or hard G3. Slightly neglected single track that is not used much due to newer Super Plus re-route into Chur-No-Bull.

Te Whiti Firebreak

OPEN

2 m

17m

-344m

12h 55m

This is just a firebreak as the name suggests, but can be ridden as a super steep, super fast downhill track for advanced riders. Watch out as it extremely steep in some sections and there are loose rocks and big ruts down the whole track. Even the best riders should take it easy on the first ride to workout some good lines. Once you have this track dialed it can be a real rush and super fun. It also makes for a great loop if you head up Te Whiti Riser, then follow the ECNZ pylon road/track to the summit turn off, rider/push your bike to the lookout, take in the view while you catch your breath, then blast down the firebreak back to the bottom. On a beautiful day you are sure to come across walkers/runners up the firebrack so make sure you give them a holla to let them know you are coming through. There is plenty of room so everyone can stay happy. Just note you will also pass through the main Te Whiti Riser trial near the bottom so go slow and watch out. The track ends with a large steel gate which you can easily poke your bike through.

Mainly flowing track with gap jumps, no chicken tracks, have to be full commitment, track rejoins main firebreak couple of times so watch for other users. Ride at your own risk, bike control is essential. Awesome track for those wanting a fun but adrenaline ride.
