491 is an alternative to Spoonhill. Both are technical DH trails but 491 can be ridden in the wet. 491 meets up with Spoonhill after about 500 meters. The trail has quite a few drop offs, is quite rooty in places and several of the drops are quite rutted (so can be railed easily). When joined back with Spoonhill trail be sure to take the Nga Tuna turn off on the right otherwise you'll have to complete all of Spoon hill and then ride back to the Wiau carpark. It's not far though.

Angry’s shorter, rowdier brother to Super Plus. The first half is wide with big berms and a few jumps (Grade 4). If you’re not comfortable riding tight technical terrain, it’s best to use the 4WD track beside the trail to head back up after the jump section. The trail then changes character completely, narrowing into a much more technical Grade 5. The lower half is skinny, steep, and rocky, with super-tight dropping corners and blind, non-rollable drops. Do not attempt unless you are very confident in advanced technical riding. The trail exits onto Gracefield Road.

Awesome singletrack through native beech forest. The trail is of similar difficulty to 491, but rides more like the tracks found on and around Mt Lowry. The top section is tight through young beech, with some off camber traverses infested with roots. After the first pinch climb, the trail speeds up and traverses around the spur, before dropping into a fast benched out section. The benching then gives way to an open spur filled with tall beech trees and plenty of loam.Plenty of optional harder lines, meaning this is a great trail to step up from the blue trails and 'Fade To Black', ready to ride the black trails from the Grade 5 Hub.
