Mountain Bike Trails in Rivenrock

Rivenrock Mountain Bike Park at Mount Holdsworth near Carterton features 20km of professionally designed trails with plans to expand to 40km, catering to all ability levels from green beginner loops to black expert technical descents. The park offers a shuttle service, bike hire, and welcomes e-bikes on 35 trails, making it accessible for riders without their own gear. Located just 10 minutes from Carterton or Masterton, Rivenrock provides excellent downhill-focused riding with a supportive infrastructure.

A mixture of hand-built trail and digger dug. Initial section of trail has a very slight climb then becomes a hand dug descent through. Trail has some fast sections, some slower techy sections and two switchbacks. Makes for an easier but great ride back to the shuttle after Boulderdash or Radiata Rumble.

Boulder Dash heads off Pioneer Road over a wooden bridge and then has a short steepish section before turning into singletrack in pine trees. There are electric fence barriers that you can ride through without problem as long as you have rubber tyres and no feet on the ground Leads into Radiata Rumble.

Quick and flowy, bobs up and down beside Pioneer road. Formerly the first two parts of Ebb. Now mellowed out a bit to better reflect G3. At the end can continue down Ebb (G4) into Barney rubble, or join into Pioneer to connect with Barney.

This is the route that has been used for the 2025 NZDH and will be used for the 2026 North Island Secondary Schools MTB Champs. It links a number of existing trails at Rivenrock, and includes varied terrain. There are off camber sections, steeps, fast sections and table top jumps. All drops are rollable, or have b lines around them.

Very fast trail with 14 jumps and a few berms on the way down, surface can be loose in a couple of places. Temporarily joins into barney rubble near the end before splitting off again.

Radiata Rumble

Radiata Rumble drops through pine forest into a set of digger-built berms and jumps. There are two options at the jumps - this route - with rollovers and berms or the big jump which has several large kickers (no gap jumps) so still rollable for those wanting to keep tyres on the ground.
