West Matukituki Track (Lower) Mountain Bike Trail

The 4WD access road up the West Branch of the Matukituki Valley. This route traverses private land (Mt Aspiring Station) via an access easement. ###### LEAVE ALL GATES AS YOU FIND THEM #####. Please stay on the road. When you get to just past Cascade Hut there is a locked gate and fence. This is where the National Park starts. You can ride along the rough 4WD track to the hut, but all tracks from there on are walking only. Take a small pack and sleeping bag and stay at Mt Aspiring Hut and do a Bike then Hike. Hut passes can be booked online at www.doc.govt.nz or at the Wanaka DOC Head Quarters.
