Description

Learn about Patea’s rich history andfollow the lower end of the Patea River through pastures and pineforest to several points of interestdating back to the 1860s. A series of signs containing historicphotographs and illustrationsfrom award-winning New Zealandbotanical artist Audrey Eagle tell thestories of the wool store wharf (B), Patea Port (C), Wai o Turi Marae(D), Dawsons Redoubt (E), Haere Hau Pa (F) and more. When you end your journey at Patea Beach (G), be sure to enjoy the freebarbeques and other facilities in thepicnic area.
