Mountain Bike Trails in Totara Park

Located 20 minutes south of Auckland CBD, Totara Park features around 10-12km of beginner to intermediate mountain bike trails suitable for all abilities. The network includes trails designed for mountain biking, e-biking, and trail running through scenic parkland. Trails are free to access 24/7 and maintained by a dedicated community of volunteers and the Totara Park Mountain Bike Club.

One of the best trails in the park, built by local club members and modified by Trail-Pro. Nice little bush ride now that the surrounding trees have become well established. Flowy trail with minimal berming. Fairly tight turns on the climb, opening out a little on the descent.

This trail is a fairly straight climb from the bottom of Pony Express back up to challenger. It has an off camber section at the bottom that can be a little slippery from time to time. Be careful merging onto challenger if riding up and if riding down be prepared to stop at the bottom.

Starts with a solid climb up from the hub before tracking across the face of the hill paddock. Curves down through a short rooty section then back across the hill lower down. Passes through a bushy gully with a short bridge before leading to another rooty section between the trees.

Totara Park contains the headwaters of the Puhunui Stream, so this track is appropriately named. Lots of berms and flow.

Rewa Hard

Rewa Hard is the newest climb in Totara Park and features 14 switchbacks as it climbs up from Scrubber and across a steep hillside. The turns are tight but the gradient is gentle, but the rider will be rewarded with two choices of getting back down to Scrubber, Puhunui Flow a winding XC track with lots of berms, or peel off to Mawhitiwhiti, a faster jumps track with lots of tabletops.
