Mountain Bike Trails in Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari
Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari is New Zealand's largest pest-proof fenced sanctuary, protecting 3,400 hectares of restored forest and native wildlife. It features an 11km gravel biking track traversing from Hicks Road to Pukeatua, offering a unique ecological experience through regenerating forest. The mountain also has excellent walking trails (up to 2 hours) ideal for experiencing native bird life, though the primary focus is wildlife conservation rather than mountain biking.
