Mt Greenland is a rough 4WD track that starts behind the town of Ross, and reaches into the alpine zone. In places it is pleasant, but mostly its a hard 900 m climb which is 95% rideable, if you've got the lungs for it. Once you get to the top you can enjoy the stunted alpine vegetation and view of the snowclad peaks of the Southern Alps, and the swamps and forests of Westland. The ride down is fast, but hold on, its bumpy in places. You'll probably have the mountain to yourself, but keep an eye out for dirt bikes, 4WDs and the odd walker.
