Craters Mountain Bike Park in the Wairakei Forest is a world-class destination featuring 55km of expertly designed trails through exotic pine and eucalyptus plantations with stunning views of Lake Taupo. The volcanic pumice soil provides exceptional year-round riding conditions with free-draining, grippy terrain ideal for all skill levels from beginners to experts. Membership with Bike Taupo is required, with visitor and annual options available.

Buddha is a big air jump line for expert riders looking to push limits. The trail is packed with spines, steep lips, big step downs, gaps and lily pad features. Most are gaps, and the trail is constantly being worked on so look before you leap - this trail is no joke.

Start and finish on Bumble Bee. There is an option to loop back into SH Fun, Meet up with the end of Waipouwerawera then carry on to some trickier country along the edge of the park. Swoopy downhill back to Bumble Bee that takes you back to the start of Zip. Park map reference 30.

Access from the top of Snakes N Ladders. Cole's Killer is a fast, tight trail with a variety of jumps and drops and off-camber high lines, though all have B-lines or can be rolled. The track descends through established pines before traversing a fast, flowy open section and pops out at the Connection. Park map no 45.

Another quality "Mad Engineers" production. Old school single track through recently cut over pine, so expect a bit of everything. Features the Impel bridge as it crosses the Steamfields trail. If any one says Contact Tracing is easy then they must be talking about something else. Starts just after the road crossing at the beginning of Outback and Beyond and runs on to the Steamfields track above the Contact steamfield.

A new trail in the 2023 logged area that connects from Managers Corner to either Zip or to the exit onto Wairakei Drive. It has some short swooping descents followed by a short climb as it passes through gullies so gear selection is key.

The track is closing over as the pines, planted about 2010, get bigger. First section is downhill and while it is labeled grade 4 there are only a few roots and tricky corners to negotiate. Climbs back to the start at the top of Ground Effect Grinder / Kinda Grinder or you can exit across the road onto Mr and Mrs or continue onto Waipouwerawera. Park map no 41.

New downhill trail on land prevoiusly in pasture. It runs from Old Farts Lookout (top of Zee Zee Top) down to the junction of Debs/Mr&Mrs/Waipouwerawera. Hand built single track so a little narrow in places - bring your skinny pedals. Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it !

Descending from the high point of the Outback climb, Hootenanny is a fast, tight singletrack descent with small jumps and drops that make for an active ride. The trail treats you to both quick turns and swoopy, rolling straights, making it a great choice for riders looking for a technical, engaging ride. Exits onto Sugar Daddy.
