Description
This trail starts above and behind the summit hut with some sweeping turns joining to the main part of the trail (which can also be accessed off Arapuke Rd further down, though not sure why you would). The trail meanders around the edge of the park down a gully, initially exposed with good flow, then later down into the bush and a series of steep leaf-strewn sections with tight hairpin turns, though these are well signposted with "SLOW" signs that you should pay some attention to.The bottom section has a couple of stream crossings and pinch climbs before giving you the choice of returning to the shuttle area via The Bends, or continuing down to the bottom carpark (or going another round via Back Track or Pupu Rahi). This trail is not especially difficult if you've got good working brakes and can handle exposed edges. There's not a lot of technical features, so it's more likely to appeal to those who like a predictable but fun and fast way down the hill.
