The section of Te Ara Ahi heads out of town concrete path trail from Waipa Mill Road to the start of the farmland. Easy gradient. Picnic area along the way. The track runs along beside the road for most of its way.The track is two-way but a bit narrow to pass in some areas so be courteous. This section is maintained by the council.
