Aorangi Crossing Hiking Trail

Either make this into an epic cycle tour/bike packing loop from Martinborough, or organise a drop off and pick up. The track is almost all 4WD track through the forest park. There's some super steep hills to climb, and at the far end the Putangirua Pinnacles to admire. The Kennett Brothers refer to this as "a classic from way back".From Haurangi Road to Sutherland Hut the trail is Intermediate and not too difficult, from there some of the steepest climbing you will ever witness on a bike.
