Whitehorse Big Easy has been machine built in 3 stages by different sized machines and different operators. First the top section (3km) was done by bulldozer in 2014 and is of 4% gradient and is grade 2. This section can be accessed from the carpark at the Whitehorse monument. This section offers really good views over Waimate and surrounding areas. The bottom section is 1.5km long, buillt with a 5 tonne digger at the end of 2015. There is a bit of climbing right at the start then it is a more flowy trail until you get to the bridge. The middle section (2.5km) was built in the bush using a 8 tonne and 15 tonne digger in April 2015. It is mostly 2-3m wide and not a technical trail though it does have some small climbs in this section. In total Whitehorse Big Easy is 7km long it is an enjoyable ride with a moderate level of fitness required, at the top is the Whitehorse Monument and lookout over Waimate.THIS TRAIL IS MULTI USE, BOTH DIRECTIONS AND IS SLOW ONLY ZONE FOR DESCENDING. Please use the many downhill MTB tracks for descending at pace.
