Mountain Bike Trails in Pukete Farm Mountain Bike Park

Originally a working farm and sand quarry, Pukete Farm is now a purpose-built 11km one-way single track suitable for all abilities. The mostly flat track offers varied surfaces including gravel, sand, clay, and grass, with tight turns and features for more advanced riders. Built and maintained by Hamilton Mountain Bike Club and connected to the Te Awa River Ride network.

Carpet Gully

A fast steep descent into the gully down a carpet lined drop, rip around a left-hand berm across a short bridge straight into a hard pinch climb back out of the gully. Riders have reported speeds of close on 50kph around the berm You'll drop back down into the gully again across a second bridge and follow the trail out before hooking around yet another bridge to climb up to the top again. Quite a fast and physical section or the trail - rewarding if you can keep momentum and legs spinning!

This is 800m of challenging track involving a gradually steepening climb up the park fence-line and back down a technical descent back across the stream for the last time.

You’ll head along the gravel entrance road and then left into the single track through a fairly well-established section of trail. This is some of the parks’ longest established trails. The selection of tighter radius corners here will provide a nice bike handling test along with short sprints between corners.

The Poo Fence is so named as it follows the fence past the waste treatment plant Smell strength determined by wind direction!!! its an easy trail that goes downhill to cross the small stream at the end and links to Dolce.

Te Awa River Ride - Horitu-Pukete

This scenic 70km river ride is under construction between Ngaruawahia and Horahora, 20km south of the Mighty River Domain at Lake Karapiro. The route weaves through rural and urban landscapes, taking in waterfalls and historic Maori sites as well as trendy shops, cafes and wineries. Te Awa River Ride The sections through Hamilton city and between Cambridge and Lake Karapiro are complete and ready to ride now while the remaining sections are due for completion by late 2015. The track will be primarily wide, smooth and largely flat making Te Awa suitable for cyclists of all fitness and experience levels. Once complete, Te Awa will link with the Waikato River Trails near Horahora as well as other regional cycling highlights such as Hamilton Mountain Bike Track in Pukete Farm Park and the newly completed Avantidrome, near Cambridge. The Sandpit

Originally a sand quarry, ‘The Sandpit’ provides a wonderful fast, twisty and challenging section with a hard-packed, grippy sand surface. This area is undergoing a program of on-going rehabilitation with mass planting of native trees and bark over carpet to help keep invasive weeds under control.

Waikato River East- Deys Park to Swarbrick Landing

Deys Park dog exercise area to Swarbrick Landing. This is gravel path. Be aware you are sharing the space with humans and dogs exercising. Turn down by the boathouse in Deys park to get to the second section of track down by the river.

River Trail Section- Wairere Drive Bridge up past Allendale Village and over the Pukete Pedestrian Bridge. This joins the west side trails. Can be closed when river levels are high.
