This trail utilises well worn animal tracks and natural terrain to provide a taste for roots, rocks, narrow and off-camber sections in a less intimidating environment than our other natural/ hand dug trails.
Baarbie DH

Baarbie DH is a PRO LINE - not the trail for your average rider! This is Morgz's space to get creative and build what he wants to ride, and believe me, he hasn't held back. There are plenty of unmarked features including rock gardens, very steep sections, big gap jumps and drops, with no marked B line. It's essential to roll through and scope it out before attempting a top to bottom, and recommended to ride wit someone who knows the track.
Birthday Cake

Built for the Birthday Bike Race (our annual event for local children to have a go at racing), this trail is a really good introduction to riding downhill, with wide bermed corners and an easy gradient. It can also be used as an up track, leading you on to an old farm track. You can use the upper section of the trail to link up the bike park with the access track (Take Me To The River).

Built during the Covid-19 lockdown by three French riders stranded at Middle Hill, this trail brings something completely different to the park. Tight, steep, technical and with huge mandatory gaps, this one is strictly only for those who know what they're doing. If you don't want to drop in off the log at the top, don't drop in at all!
DDT

Built in three days with two Silky saws and a rake, Silky Rocks is an all-natural gnar-fest sure to provide a challenge for the most confident riders. 'B-line' options have been added to by-pass the biggest drops, however these easier options still have their own challenges... Enter if you dare.

Top to bottom fast flow track, fun factor is through the roof This trail follows the boundary fence down the ridge, in to the 'gully of send'! There are some optional big step-ups and hips in there, please scope before you send. Lots of room to progress with sneaky side hits, rollers and doubles to be found, or if you prefer, the wheels can stay on the ground throughout! There are some steep tight corners to look out for, remember this is 'Middle Hill flow'!!!
Snake Nip

A little warm up to get you to Snake Bite This is a short, steep organic cut line with minimal benching. You'll find some off camber roots and one or two tricky tight turns. Slippery when wet!

Cruisy trail connecting the base area with the bike park. You can continue on to the Wharekiri Stream, take a dip where the Wharekiri and Millar Streams meet or ditch the bikes and head down the riverbed to the Clarence. Use Waipapa Road to complete the loop back to the carpark. Parts of this route are on farm tracks, some of which are used by shuttle vehicles so extra care must be taken if shuttles are operating. Waipapa Road is used by a range of vehicles, please give way to them You are crossing through private land so please obey all signage and stick to the track. You must have a Pedal Pass for Middle Hill MTB to use this trail!

The original This was the first trail built at Middle Hill, long before diggers and chainsaws came in to play. Some of the best views in the area, and some tight techy turns and exposure to keep you on your toes. Sections of the trail were 'created' in the 2016 earthquake.

Machine built flow trail with some steep sections and a huge variety of corners, from fast and flowing to steep and tight. It's not a 'jump track' but has plenty of opportunities for air time if you know where to look This was our first machine built trail, and is still the crowd favourite. In 2025 Wild Boarz and Twisty Tree were merged in to one top to bottom trail.
