Hauraki Rail Trail- Paeroa to Te Aroha section. This starts on the west side of the bridge into Paeroa. coming across the bridge, take the track section to the right. This follows the old rail corridoor to Te Aroha. There are several road crossings on this track, which are not all in the most convenient places. The track finishes at the old Te Aroha railway station.

Hauraki Rail Trail - From the old Waihi Train station, out through the Victoria Battery site, to the Waikino Tavern Bridge. This is a beautiful gravel surface track, winding alongside the river, through farmland, and under trees. It follows the old water pipe line from Waihi out to the Victoria Battery gold processing site. Slightly downhill in this direction from Waihi to Waikino. The track continues through the gorge to Paeroa, where connects to both Thames and Te Aroha.

Hauraki Rail Trail- Waikino Tavern to Paeroa section. Wide gravel track. Crosses two old railway bridges, and includes a long section of railway tunnel- with lights Passes the Karangahake gold mining area, with interesting walks, tunnels and artifacts. Section finishes at the bridge into Paeroa. One section carries on straigh across the road, and heads to Te Aroha. Cross the bridge into Paeroa, and turn left to follow the next section along the top of the stopbanks to go to Thames.

This walkway features historic railway remains in a stunning natural gorge setting, including two steel truss bridges and a 1 km rail tunnel, and provide access to the relics of historic gold mining. The walkway follows the railway line through the gorge and then opens out alongside the Ohinemuri River, passing through the huge Victoria Battery complex and terminating at the Waikino Station where a cafe and train rides can be investigated.A shorter loop section can be walked, that includes both the bridges and the 1100 m railway tunnel at Karangahake.

4 hr, 4.3 km (return)A network of tracks provides access to the summit and the forested flanks of Karangahake Mountain. It takes about 2 hrs 30 mins to reach the top, becoming steep and exposed towards the top. A circuit can also be done by taking the County Road Track around the mountain.
