Trail rebuilt (April 2021). Fun downhill trail with large bermed corners. A couple of small drops and one larger one near the bottom are now flowy but all roll-able jumps. Level 3-4 Intermediate when dry, closer to a 4 when wet as the corners are clay and can get greasy (go faster and stay high on the berm). This can be shuttled by car, or you can ride back up Repeat Offender/Conviction/Bootleg to get back to the start.

Juvie is a digger built, grade 2 track. The track starts at the Boot Leg exit (White Gate Car Park) on the Mapuia side of the reserve. From there it sidles around to join up with Conviction (the uphill track) just below where the tree fall from last year's (2013) storm occurred. Those who know the area well, will know that there was an old walking track that went up to a small clearing that was created from some tree fall a few years back. Juvie makes it to this clearing and then runs underneath, then across that existing walking track before continuing on to join into Conviction.

A nice new climbing connection from Shelly Bay Rd up to Prison Rd in Maupuia. Hand built by contractors to minimise canopy loss and visibility from below. Miramar Track Project and Te Motu Kairangi-Miramar Ecological Restoration have planted hundreds of natives along the trail which which one day canopy the trail and make it completely invisible from below.

Repeat Offender

2h 45m

Starting at the bottom of Jail Brake, Repeat Offender climbs back up the hill via 4 switch backs. From there it is a downward tending sidle with some pumpy sections thrown in for fun. Meets Conviction about 35m up from the start of the track.

Solitary

OPEN

-64m

Fun, technical advanced track. Challenging but very rideable in the wet it is a narrower and more off-camber version of its neighbour, Jail Brake. Top section starts with a drop in trail filter and a few doubles (all roll-able), then some nice switchbacks. Mid section is a tree-rooty traverse along the ridge and the last section is a steeper drop with several big switchbacks down to join the end of Repeat Offender.

TopaTopa (Chopper)

OPEN

935 m

-197m

4h 7m

Topa Topa is a very steep trail with a very loose riding surface in places as well as numerous unmarked trail features. The trail starts off of Prison Road in Maupuia on the western side of the Miramar Peninsula and descends to the coast. Riders can pedal back up Piki Ki Maupuia to do another lap. Built by team from the Miramar Track Project / Wellington Mountsin Bike Club with the permission of the Wellington City Council. The track is very steep in places with limited traction in both the wet and the dry, includes a significant drop (with a b-line) but rest of the trail is a single Grade 5 line. Built in late 2018 / early 2019.
